2. The first part of the duodenum.
3. The protective covering of a developing tooth.
4. The artificial covering of a tooth, used for cosmetic reasons.

cervical cap

A contraceptive barrier inserted into the vagina and placed over the uterine cervix before intercourse. It prevents conception by keeping sperm from entering the womb.

cradle cap

Seborrheic dermatitis of the newborn, usually appearing on the scalp, face, and head. Thick, yellowish, crusted lesions develop on the scalp, and scaling, papules, or fissuring appears behind the ears and on the face.

TREATMENT
The head is cleansed with a mild shampoo daily. Corticosteroid cream is applied to the affected area twice daily.

duodenal cap

A dilatation of the duodenum near the pylorus. It is a useful landmark in imaging of the abdomen.

fibrous cap

A layer of connective tissue, including smooth muscle cells and macrophages, that forms on an atherosclerotic plaque. Rupturing of the cap into the underlying plaque causes acute arterial obstruction during myocardial infarction.

knee cap
