[glycose + -uria]
An abnormal amount of glucose in the urine. Traces of sugar, esp. of glucose, may occur in normal urine but are not detected by ordinary qualitative methods. The presence of a reducing sugar found during routine urinalysis is suggestive but not diagnostic of diabetes mellitus. It is found when the blood glucose level exceeds the renal threshold (about 170 mg/dL of blood).
