Spondee Speech Recognition Threshold
SRT, speech reception threshold, speech recognition threshold.
To evaluate for hearing loss related to speech discrepancies.
There are no food, fluid, activity, or medication restrictions unless by medical direction.
- Normal spondee threshold of about 6 to 10 dB (decibels) of the normal pure-tone threshold with 50% of the words presented being correctly repeated at the appropriate intensity (see study titled “Audiometry, Hearing Loss”).
- Normal speech recognition with 90% to 100% of the words presented being correctly repeated at an appropriate intensity.
