Primarily to evaluate for residual or recurrent thyroid cancer. Results may also be elevated in cases of thyroid injury (related to surgery, fine needle biopsy, or thyroiditis) or in response to thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) receptor stimulation.
Patient Preparation
There are no food, fluid, activity, or medication restrictions unless by medical direction.
