1. The act of making something, such as a body structure, chemical reaction, mood state, or disease process more stable or rigid, less variable, mobile or volatile.
2. The fixation of a dental restoration, the mandible, or a tooth so that it will not move, esp. under such conditions as chewing, speaking, or swallowing.
