Cestoda

[L. cestus, fr Gr. kestos, girdle]
A subclass of the class Cestoidea, phylum Platyhelminthes, which includes the tapeworms, having a scolex and a chain of segments (proglottids) (e.g., Taenia, intestinal parasites of humans and other vertebrates).
