SYMB: Ag A soft, ductile, malleable metallic element, atomic weight (mass) 107.870, atomic number 47, specific gravity 10.5. Its salts are widely used in medicine for their caustic, astringent, and antiseptic effects. In dentistry, silver is used in prosthetic devices, as an alloy with copper or mercury, as silver solder, and as tapering points to obliterate root canals in the endodontic treatment of teeth.
