ten-meter walk test, 10-meter walk test

An assessment of walking speed in meters per second over a short period of time to help measure the functional mobility of those affected by acquired brain injury; hip fracture; movement disorders; multiple sclerosis; Parkinson disease; stroke, spinal cord and other injuries. The person is instructed to walk a set distance, e.g., 6 meters, 10 meters, etc. The time it takes for the person to walk the distance is measured; the distance covered is divided by the time it took the person to walk that distance.
