Rationale
To evaluate hearing loss in newborns and school-age children but can be used for all ages.
This Core Dx Study is most commonly used to screen and assess hearing loss; especially important in newborns, infants, and young children as hearing loss affects early development and learning; intervention at an early age increases the ability of an affected individual to reach their full potential.
Patient Preparation
There are no food, fluid, activity, or medication restrictions unless by medical direction.
Normal Findings
- Normal pure tone average of –10 to 15 dB for infants, children, or adults.
