Common Use:
To assist in the diagnosis of West Nile virus (WNV) infection.

Serum collected in a red-top tube or CSF collected in a sterile plastic container.

Normal Findings:
(Method: Enzyme immunoassay [EIA] is generally used for clinical specimens, and nucleic acid testing [NAT] is generally used for testing specimens from potential donors of blood products, cellular therapy, or solid organ transplants.) Normal findings for EIA/ELISA (IgG & IgM): no antibody detected; for NAT viral RNA: nonreactive.
