Rationale
To assist in the diagnosis of West Nile virus (WNV) infection.

Patient Preparation
There are no food, fluid, activity, or medication restrictions unless by medical direction.

Normal Findings
(Method: Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay [ELISA] is generally used for clinical specimens, and polymerase chain reaction [PCR] is generally used for testing specimens from potential donors of blood products, cellular therapy, or solid organ transplants.) Normal findings for ELISA (IgG and IgM): negative (indicating absence of WNV IgG/IgM antibodies); for NAT viral RNA: negative (indicating absence of WNV RNA).

Critical Findings and Potential Interventions
