OER in Nursing: Modern Content, AI, and Active Learning
Lunch and Learn hosted May 6, 2026
About the Lunch and Learn
Unbound Medicine hosted a 30-minute lunch and learn exploring the evolving role of OER in nursing. Adopting OER isn’t just about saving students hundreds of dollars—it’s about meeting them where they are. Today’s nursing students are digital-first learners who expect dynamic, on-the-go content that fits seamlessly into their busy lives, rather than static, traditional reading assignments.
To maximize its impact, open content shouldn’t live in isolation. In Nursing Central, foundational OER is integrated directly into a clinical environment so that reading material lives side-by-side with active learning activities and trusted references. This session demonstrates this unified experience, plus how our AI tool, Assist, helps faculty instantly generate patient scenarios and NGN-style questions based on the exact topics students are studying.
Covered in This Session:
- Meeting Students Where They Are: Delivering cost-saving OER in a modern, mobile-first format
- Context & Application: Placing foundational reading side-by-side with active learning activities
- AI-Powered Faculty Tools: Using Assist to rapidly build case studies and NGN questions (including Bow-tie and Trend)
