1. A holding together or uniting of two surfaces or parts, as in wound healing.
2. A fibrous band of scar tissue holding parts together that are normally separated, as within the peritoneal cavity after surgery or penetrating injuries.
3. An attraction to another substance, e.g., of molecules or blood platelets to each other or to dissimilar materials.
