1,5 anhydroglucitol
(an″hī″drō-gloo′sĭ-tol″)
[¹an- + hydro- + gluco- + -itol]
ABBR: 1,5-AG A monosaccharide excreted by the kidneys when glucose levels are normal. Assay for it are used as a biochemical measure of recent variability in glucose control. During hyperglycemia and glycosuria, more 1,5-AG than normal is excreted in the urine and serum levels of 1,5-AG decrease.
