Arthus reaction

[Nicholas Maurice Arthus, Fr. bacteriologist, 1862-1945]
A severe local inflammatory reaction that occurs at the injection site of an antigen in someone previously sensitized. Arthus reactions are a form of type III allergy reactions producing an antigen-antibody immune complex.
