Betulaceae
(bech″ŭ-lās′ē-ē″)
[Betula + -aceae]
A family of flowering, nut-bearing trees, the birch family, that also includes alders, hazels, and hornbeams. Pollen from members of this family produces allergic reactions in many people in the early spring.
