Ascomycetes
(as″kō-mī″sēt′ēz″)
[Gr. askos, leather bag + mycetes]
In one system of taxonomy, a class of the true fungi that includes the genera Histoplasma, Micosporum, Penicillium, and the yeast Saccharomyces. This class is equivalent to the phylum Ascomycotina in another system of taxonomy.
