1. Photons, atomic particles, or sound waves aligned in parallel rays. In radiology and nuclear medicine, these rays may originate from a point-source and be directed toward an object in order to image or treat the object.
2. The part of an analytical balance to which the weighing pans are attached.
3. A long, slender piece of wood, metal, or plastic resin that acts as a support, e.g. in a dental appliance or other applications.
