1. The site of close approximation of two or more bones; a joint. It may be immovable (as in synarthrosis), slightly movable (amphiarthrosis), or freely movable (diarthrosis).
2. The relative position of the tongue and palate necessary to produce a given sound.
3. Enunciation of words and sentences.
4. The movement of articulating surfaces through their available joint play or range of motion, used to determine joint mobility or to treat joint pain.
