1. A crossing of structures in the form of an X.
2. A place in which linear structures cross.
SYN: SEE: chiasm; chiasma
3. In reference to axons in the central nervous system, the crossing of the midplane (the sagittal plane) of the brain or spinal cord en route to a target on the contralateral side
