Acarina
(ak″ă-rī′nă, rē′)
[acarus]
An order of arachnids that includes many ticks and mites. Most are ectoparasites whose bites or burrowing cause localized dermatitis and itching. Systemic reactions are rare. Some may be vectors of disease.
