[L. oriens, rising, rising sun, east]
1. The ability to comprehend and to adjust oneself with regard to time, location, and identity of persons. This ability is partially or completely lost in some neurological and psychiatric disorders.
2. The formal introduction of a new employee to the facilities, practices, regulations, resources, and staff with which he will work.
