Blomia tropicalis
(blō′mē-ă trop-ĭ-kal′ĭs)
The scientific name for a common house mite found in South and Central America. Allergens derived from this mite cause allergic reactions, including asthma and atopy. It is abbreviated Blot by the World Health Organization.
