CCR5 delta 32 genotype

A mutation that confers a survival advantage and substantial resistance to the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Homozygosity for this allele protects adults from HIV-1 after blood and body fluid exposure. Heterozygosity may confer some protection against disease progression.

IL28B genotype

A nucleotide polymorphism in some patients infected with hepatitis C virus that is associated with a favorable response to therapy with interferon-based treatment regimens.
