Cullen sign

(kŭl′ĕn )

[Thomas Stephen Cullen, U.S. gynecologist, 1868-1953]
Bluish discoloration of the periumbilical skin caused by intraperitoneal hemorrhage. This rare finding is sometimes found in patients with acute pancreatitis, blunt trauma to the abdomen, or ruptured ectopic pregnancy.
