[endo- + -scopy]
Inspection of body organs or cavities with an endoscope. Although endoscopy is well tolerated by nearly all patients, major complications (such as perforation of the organ being examined, bleeding, difficulty in breathing, chest pain, adverse anesthetic reactions) may occasionally occur.
