Dermanyssus gallinae
(dĕr″mă-nis′ŭs gă-lī′nē″)
[derma + G. nyssein, to prick + L. gallina, hen]
A species of mite found in chickens. Its bite may cause an itchy rash, esp. on those who work with infested farm animals or pets.
