bubo
(boo′bō)

pl. buboes [Gr. boubon, groin, swollen gland]
An infected, inflamed lymph node often filled with pus, as in patients infected with Yersinia pestis (the bacterium that causes plague). The nodes most commonly affected are those of the groin and axilla.
