Anoplura

[Gr. anoplos, unarmed + Gr. oura, tail]
Blood-feeding ectoparasites of mammals. They can cause localised skin irritations and are vectors of several blood-borne diseases, e.g., trench fever, epidemic typhus, epidemic relapsing fever.
