Oscar Huntington Allis, U.S. surgeon, 1836-1921.
Allis forceps
Forceps with curved, serrated edges. They are used to grasp tissue firmly but without crushing.
Allis sign
A clinical finding in patients with a fractured or dislocated femoral head, in which a finger can be pressed into the fascia lata femoris between the greater trochanter and the iliac crest.
