The “ten-point cognitive screener,” an assessment tool for dementia that consists of three elements: the year, month, and day (maximum score = 3); a three-item recall test (graded from 0-3); and the ability to name a specified number of animals in 60 seconds (graded from 1-4). Other tests used to screen for dementia include the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, the Mini-Cog, and the Mini-Mental State Exam.
